MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND

All photos were taken by my mom.

Striped Peplum Cami: Old Navy // Jeggings: American Eagle
Sandals: Old Navy (Not available in gold) // Saddle Crossbody: Forever 21

Hooray! It's Friday, but more importantly, it's Memorial Day Weekend. My family and I don't have too much planned besides a cookout on Saturday evening. I'm thinking chicken kebabs, chips and guacamole and fresh drinks. We also might go on a hike or take a trip to Middleburg, Virginia!

This outfit would be perfect for Memorial Day, Fourth of July and honestly, any warm summer day. I absolutely adore this striped peplum cami. I adore anything peplum actually, but the light material makes this cami extra flowy. I'm also excited to break out my white denim now! White goes with pretty much everything. Finally, how cute is this saddle crossbody? I've been eyeing ChloĆ© bags for months, but couldn't justify the price. This one is such a cute alternative and it's much, much cheaper. We're talking over $2,000 cheaper! Maybe one day I'll be able to afford one, but until then, I'll stick with my faux leather Forever 21 bag.

Hope y'all enjoy the long weekend!

MY GO-TO OUTFIT LATELY

Flowy Floral Top: American Eagle // Jeggings: American Eagle //
Lace Up Flats: Halogen // Tote Bag: Madewell

Y'all, if there is one outfit that I've been living in lately, it's this one. I can't get enough of it. I've probably worn it once a week for the past month or two (#noshame). It's been perfect for going to class, meeting friends for coffee and running all-day errands.

I picked up the flowy floral top during one of my last shifts at American Eagle. I had my eye on it for a while and wanted to use my employee discount before I left my job for good. I love that the smaller floral print doesn't consume my petite frame like many floral print shirts normally do to me. The jeans are also from American Eagle. They're in my favorite wash - True Rinse!

After seeing just about every blogger I know in a pair of lace up flats, I just had to order them for myself. They were a little intimidating at first, but now that I know how to tie them, I LOVE them. Absolutely love them. They're surprisingly comfortable and quite durable too.

While this is my go-to outfit during the day time, I've switched out the lace up flats for wedges to create a more appropriate night time look before too. Perfect for dinner and drinks!

What has been your go-to outfit lately?

I'VE GRADUATED FROM COLLEGE + WHAT'S NEXT

It's official - I've graduated from James Madison University! On May 7th, I walked across the stage, was given my diploma and threw my cap in the air with my fellow classmates. I received a B.S. in Communication Studies with a concentration in Public Relations, as well as a minor in Writing, Rhetoric, and Technical Communication.

I can't believe how quickly these past four years have gone by! It seems like I was applying to colleges and receiving my acceptance (and rejection) letters just yesterday. At the time, James Madison University (JMU) wasn't my dream school, but it was a school that fit my requirements and that I could see myself at for a while. Little did I know, JMU would shape me in ways unimaginable. I'd fall in love with it over and over again, and eventually it would become my forever home.

I'm so thankful to everyone who has helped me along the way. I honestly wouldn't be where I am today if it weren't for my supportive parents and family, my loving boyfriend, my wonderful friends, and my encouraging professors.

My boyfriend, Zach, graduated from JMU, as well, and received a B.B.A. in Accounting. He will return in the fall to receive a M.S. in Accounting with a concentration in Assurance. It's a one-year program, so once he finishes, we have plans to move to Richmond, Virginia together and pursue our careers there.

In the meantime, I'll be living at home in Northern Virginia with my parents, my brother and our dog, Gracie! I'm hoping to find a part-time (or full-time) job to gain experience and save money. While moving home isn't exactly what I had envisioned for myself after graduation, I know it's the best decision for me right now. I'm excited to spend more time with my family, as well as have the opportunity to do more of what I love, such as cook/bake, take photographs and blog! And the best part? I'll only be living two hours away from Zach, so I can visit him (and JMU) as often as I'd like!

XO, Lauren

P.S. Stay tuned for a GoPro video of my graduation! My parents gifted me with one to film the ceremony. If you scroll back up to the first photo, you'll notice that I'm holding it in my left hand! Yes, I carried across the stage with me! I'm editing the footage now and I hope to have the video posted in the next few weeks.
